Mercy Sister Margaret Mary McBride of St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix was excommunicated after it was learned she concered with the hospital's ethics committee for the abortion of an 11 week old fetus to save the mother from death.  Read Story 

I find this story truely remarkable given the bloody history of the Catholic Church.  This nun agreed with the committee's recommendations to save a mother's life and the Catholic Church sets in judgement of her like they haven't murdered an uncountable number of innocent men, women, children, and fetus in its 1700 year history.  I find this truely amazing.  If it is the church doing the killing it is okay but let one of its members show compassion and merely agree and the church excommunicats the nun.  What happened to "judge not", oh I forgot we are talking about the church here, the all perfect church.
