Face it, we already have socialized medicine. Anyone can arive at an ER and receive treatment and if they don’t have the means to pay for it or don’t have insurance, then that costs is spread out in the costs the rest of us must pay when we go to the ER. This is basic business 101 something that apply to doctors and hospitals just like it does to all businesses. My insurance went up 11% this year and like it or not, it will keep going up as more and more Americans drop off the insurance rolls reducing the pot that covers costs.
Some of this is fueled by job loss, when one looses their job they lose their insurance and the other part is less and less companies are providing insurance as part of an employment package and as this responsibility falls upon the unemployed or under employed most choose to go without insurance because for many they either just can’t afford it or will not pay for something they have always received for free as part of their employment.
My wife and I are self employed so we have for the past 20 years provided our own insurance but I can see a time in our future where this may no longer be possible because the costs of insurance continues to rise much faster than our revenues due mainly because the costs of providing the health care that our insurance must cover continues to rise as a direct result of so many not being able to pay for their medical services. Americans showing up at the town hall meetings protesting should consider that when they go to the doctor or hospital and when they pay their insurance premiums and their taxes each year they are already paying for the uninsured in these higher costs and they are going to continue to pay more because these costs are going to continue to rise. Rather than just protesting, they should come with a working solution that will lower costs, but most only want to protest because that is what their puppet masters have told them to do.
There are no free rides. Some hospitals have had to close their doors because the uninsured have forced them out of business. The costs of Medicaid and Medicare will continue to rise eating up more and more of our tax revenue and those attending the town hall meetings protesting change have yet to put forth a working solution. In a nation that likes to call its self Christian, I can’t even believe there can be protesters at sometime this important as we are not going to allow someone to die on the sidewalk because they were locked out of the ER due to their inability to pay. There is nothing more unchristian than to turn our backs on those in their hour of need. So protest all you want but unless you come up with a solution that will lead to more Americans being able to pay, you are part of the problem and not part of the solution. This can’t be permitted to continue because those with their inability to pay are impacting us all. Cut the strings and stop listening to your puppet master and think for yourself for a change. Come up with some working solutions because the current solution isn't working.
